[...] I love sharing about what I am doing with my nutrition and fitness and those are two very important components to any weight-loss success. However, I strongly feel that when you focus solely on those things alone, you are more than likely just treating the symptoms. I know for some their issues with food run only as deep as liking food too much. For me, though, I admit that I am a full-fledged addict with a lifelong pattern of relating to food in unhealthy, physically and emotionally harmful ways. In this series, my intention is to confront those mental, emotional and spiritual stumbling blocks head on. You may wish to go back and read these posts from the beginning and you can do that right here. [...]

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for sharing! I'm humbled by yor bravery and so appreciate you opening yourself up here. As I was reading your story and you said something about forgiving your step-father, I was thinking in the back of my mind, "What about your mother?" and then you came to the same conclusion yourself. I know it is so hard to revisit these issues and you have endured so much trauma that I really would encourage you to seek the advice of a professional counselor. It's a hard process, but the healing that you get on the other side is so worth it. I will be praying for you on your journey. Please keep me posted on how you are doing. And I'll be posting a new FF post this Friday! I'll be PMing you as well-I have more to say!

I'm home sick today. I am laying in my bed and I just read all of your FF posts. I felt like I was stuck in one of those books that you just can't put down...then I ran out of posts to read! You really opened my eyes to a lot. I have some very deep-seated emotional issues with my childhood that I tend to run to as my excuse for the way that I am. But you really revealed to me...or rather God through you...revealed to me that the heart of the issue really does lie in forgiveness. While probably entirely too personal for a comment, I'll just lay it out there. I never knew my biological father. I didn't find out until my teenage years that I was the result of a rape. The only father figure that I ever knew came into my life when I was just about to turn five years old. Man, did I love him so much. I ate it right up...having a dad AND a Mom. Then the abuse started. First it was mental and emotional, then physical...then sexual. It took me a long time to finally tell my mother...and when I did, she laughed at me in disbelief. Then she never said another word about it. A year later, I told my grandmother (the only "savior" I knew at that time in my life). My stepfather went to prison. My sisters and I went into the foster care system. My mother fought to prove my stepdad's innocence. She is still married to him today. It has taken me a lot of years to forgive him and put that relationship on mend, and it will never be what it was for that little five year old girl, but I had to forgive him to start to heal. It took me years to truly forgive...and there are times now that I start to see that abusive person come out in him again and it's like taking one step forward and two steps back. But what you really made me realize is that my heart issue isn't with my stepdad. My heart issue is with my mother. That is where the forgiveness should have started all along. So thank you. :-)
